Our community native plant nursery is located behind the Muriwai Surf Club. We collect seeds and have grown thousands of native seedlings. We then use these seedlings in restoration projects such as the Village Green Restoration Project and also donate these plants back to the community for more 'local' projects.
We have a regular group of volunteers who gather weekly to help grow our plants for various initiatives in Muriwai. This was made possible by a grant from the Lion Foundation and in co-operation with the local Rangers.
We have a seed collection and propagation program underway with the aim off building up over 8000 plants which are sourced and grown locally by the community for local re-vegetation projects and to assist those participating in the weekly Muriwai Weed Walkers. Work with Auckland Council staff to build up our stock of locally grown natives for regeneration projects.
Great opportunity for anyone with green fingers or who wants to learn more about native plant species while building up a sustainable stock for projects.
