With the recent weather events, restoring Muriwai’s landscape has become more important than ever. With generous recent support from Air New Zealand, we are able to grow thousands more seedlings through our community nursery — and last month, our team of Weed walking volunteers helped put around 2,500 native plants in the ground across affected areas that were left bare. These plants will help stabilise eroded slopes, restore habitat, and bring back biodiversity to areas that were stripped bare. It’s a long road to recovery, but every planting day brings us closer to a more resilient, thriving coastline.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped grow, carry, dig, and plant.
