Community Native Plant Nursery

Growing for the community

Our new larger native plant nursery is behind the Muriwai Surf Club. We collect seeds and have grown thousands of native seedlings. We then use these seedlings in restoration projects such as the Village Green Restoration Project and also donate these plants back to the community for more 'local' projects.

If you would like to be involved with the project please contact our nursery manager is Robin Foubister robin@muriwai.mobi

Plant Growing Unit 'PGU'

Our Plant Growing Unit helps to grow our plants for our various projects in Muriwai. This was made possible by a grant from the Lion Foundation and in co-operation with the local Rangers.

The PGU is a quantum leap for us and will enable MEACT to have thousands of seedlings ready for planting next spring.

We have a seed collection and propagation program underway with the aim off building up over 1000 plants which are sourced and grown locally by the community for local re-vegetation projects and to assist those participating in our Community Weedbusters Project. Work with Auckland Council staff to build up our stock of locally grown natives for regeneration projects.

Great opportunity for anyone with green fingers or who wants to learn more about native plant species while building up a sustainable stock for projects.
